Paul Davey rides the length of the country for the EDKPA May 2009 Why? He was so grateful for the way in which his stepmother Mel Davey (nee Bennett) was looked after during the Summer of 2007 in Sid Ward. To top it all, this year, Mel was able to walk down the aisle to marry Paul’s father. Good news indeed and a wonderful story. To make the ride a real family event, his father, Chris and Mel are following him on the ride as support team for all of the 950 miles. Nick Butt is also supporting Paul as pedal power on the route. “They will make the journey with their caravan and will provide support, set up camp for me every night and hopefully fill my tummy with some nice energy boosting food! Their support will also cut down on costs meaning that every penny of the money raised can go direct to your charity.” Here's his schedule: Tues 14th July 09 – Depart for the long 2 day drive to John O’Groats Thurs 16th July – The ride begins! JOG – Dornoch Firth (83miles) Fri 17th July – Dornoch Firth – Fort William (107miles) Sat 18th July – Fort William – Dunoon (99miles) Sun 19th July – Dunoon – Gretna (125miles) Mon 20th July – Gretna – Wrightington (113miles) Tues 21 July – Wrightington – Ludlow (127miles) Wed 22nd July – Ludlow – Cheddar (97miles) Thurs 23rd July – Cheddar – Cullompton (50miles) Overnight at Chris & Mel’s house. Wendy raises £260 on World Kidney Day Flour everywhere…Mar 2009 Wendy Sincock raised over £260 from the World Kidney day coffee morning. Together with sister Ann, mum helped & 3 friends, they managed to raise over £260 and also promote kidney awareness. “It was an effort by the whole of the village”, said Wendy , “from the local pub, local shops and everyone who donated items and came along to the event." From the sales of home-made cakes, buns and other items (all sorts of jewelry, perfumes and kindly donated wood carvings, plus raffling the local pub bunny), they raised over £260 in the two hour coffee morning.
